Biography

After a background in the Lisbon Fine-Arts Academy, Master studies in Communication Design and Multimedia Design allowed Jorge to apply creative processes, knowledge and aesthetics from the arts into mass media industries, such as advertisement, media and entertainment, both as a Designer and Art Director. These experiences took place in several countries of Europe, inevitably providing the social and cultural diversity awareness strived for.

Among others, Jorge's corporate experiences in Design and Art Direction include the TU/e Eindhoven University of Technology (the Netherlands), Sony BMG (Norway), Telmedia-Audaxis (France/Belgium), Lisbon Gay Parade (Portugal), ISCTE (Portugal). In the field of interactive media, Jorge was independently involved in the authoring of iTV and alternate reality gaming projects, exhibited on the FMX Festival (Stuttgart) and Cinekid Festival (Amsterdam).

Joining the Faculty of Industrial Design in March 2007 as a lecturer, Jorge was involved in the transition and restyling of the faculty's communication platforms, in regard of the University's new corporate identity. Since then, Jorge has been involved in the participation of ID within the Dutch Design Week, currently managing the external production design.

Since 2008, in a combination between his involvement in education, as an university lecturer, and design research, Jorge is conducting the PhD project in Design of Responsive Environments.
